The Association of Commercial Television (AKTV) has reached a settlement with file-sharing services eDisk and SledujteTo to prevent the illegal sharing of copyrighted content from private broadcasters, including TV Nova and TV Prima. Both platforms have committed to implementing technical measures that block access to protected works.

The agreement was accepted by eDisk s.r.o. and Fine Horizon Holdings Corp Limited, the current operator of SledujteTo, based in the Republic of Seychelles. Under the deal, AKTV members will halt all ongoing legal and enforcement actions against the operators. In return, the platforms will cover the broadcasters' legal costs.

Klára Brachtlová, president of AKTV, emphasized the importance of the agreement, noting that regular communication, updates to the list of protected works, and stronger filtering mechanisms are crucial for success. "We are committed to ensuring these measures cannot be bypassed," she said.

Since January 2023, copyright law has required online content-sharing services to implement "notice and stay down" policies. Brachtlová added that commercial TV broadcasters invest hundreds of millions of Czech crowns annually into original content, making it essential to protect their investments.
