Starting April 23rd, streaming service SkyShowtime will implement a new pricing structure in the Czech market. The standard subscription will increase from 179 CZK to 219 CZK and will be complemented by a cheaper ad-supported tier priced at 159 CZK.

Current subscribers will be automatically transferred to the higher-priced tier, renamed Standard Plus, on April 23rd. Although the base price will increase, various discounts will remain in place, such as the 50% discount offered when SkyShowtime launched in the Czech market.

Regardless of the tier, the maximum video resolution remains limited to HD, with SkyShowtime still not offering 4K (Ultra HD) content more than a year after its launch. The only tangible advantage of the higher tier compared to the ad-supported one is the ability to download up to 30 movies or individual TV show episodes for offline viewing on mobile devices.

Standard tier users can also simultaneously use two devices, while ad-supported tier subscribers are limited to one.

Paramount Advertising International will be the exclusive seller of advertising space on SkyShowtime. Users can expect to see an average of four to five minutes of ads per hour. The standard tier will be ad-free but may feature self-promotional teasers for other SkyShowtime content.

"We are thrilled to be the first streaming service to offer an ad-supported option to customers across all of our markets," said CEO Monty Sarhan. Advertisers will be able to purchase ad slots across all content on SkyShowtime.

The new ad-supported Standard subscription will be introduced in all 20+ markets, including Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
