Skylink, the largest satellite TV platform in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and FreeSAT have suspended satellite broadcasting of Barrandov TV channels starting Tuesday, September 17. Customers were informed that the broadcaster had failed to meet contractual obligations.

Viewers of Skylink and FreeSAT who tune into the Barrandov TV channels now see only a text notice about the suspended broadcast. Both satellite platforms are owned by Luxembourg-based M7 Group, which is part of the French media conglomerate Canal+ Group.

Kristýna Synáčová, spokesperson for Barrandov TV, confirmed that the broadcast on Skylink and FreeSAT has been discontinued. According to her, the station terminated the contract themselves due to "unfavorable conditions."

She added, "I cannot provide further details due to ongoing negotiations, which are part of a commercial confidentiality agreement. I can only say that we are gradually reviewing all signed contracts as part of the company’s recovery process."

Meanwhile, no changes will affect another satellite TV provider, Telly. The distribution of all three Barrandov channels will continue on Telly, with Barrandov TV, Kino Barrandov, and Barrandov Krimi available in HD resolution starting from the basic subscription package.
